There are plenty of different online marketplaces but there’s a reason that Etsy is one of the most well-known. Millions of sellers use Etsy for a few reasons. It’s easy, it’s cheap, and it’s a great place to showcase your hard work and make some money in the process.

Etsy is the perfect spot to meet people who are interested in vintage items, hand-made goods, and arts and crafts. If you have a talent and would like to start a side business with your talent, Etsy is the best place to go.

Why are we closing our Etsy shop?

So let’s go through some of the basics on how you can start an Etsy account and start making money.

Before You Begin You Should Learn About Etsy
While Etsy is the right choice for many sellers, it might not be right for everyone. So before you decide to dive in, and create an account, you should go over some of Etsy’s policies. You should scan their seller’s policies as well as how the fees work.

While you’re going through how Etsy works, you’ll get a better idea of whether or not it’s the right place for you to start your online business.

Create Your Shop
If you find that Esty is the right place for you, then it’s time to register. After you’ve become a registered site member it’s time to create your shop.

Etsy will help you reach your target audience by helping you choose your language and currency preferences. There are Etsy sellers all over the world, so it helps them target your audience by letting them know your preferences.

Choose An Interesting Name- After you’ve given Etsy your language and currency preferences, it’s time to choose a name for your shop. Just think about shops that you know, which contain interesting, and eye-catching names.

Think of something that is unique to you and your shop. This will help Etsy direct people towards your shop.

Start Listing Items For Sale- Now it’s time to start adding items to your listings. Take nice clear, eye-popping images of your items, and match them with detailed descriptions. The descriptions should contain materials used, sizes, and anything else that you think is important for the customer.

After this add relevant keywords that will help customers locate your shop. Review it when you’re finished and make sure that the listing is as good as it can get.

Offer Fair Pricing- At this point, you’ve already reviewed the seller fees, and you’ve got to strategically come up with fair pricing based on the cut that Etsy is going to take. Your pricing shouldn’t be too high, but don’t be too modest either.

Think about the costs of the materials you use to make your items. If you want to make any money on Etsy, you need to charge more than the costs of the products. Or else you’re just paying back the item fees and not generating a profit.

How To Be Successful On Etsy?
Creating an account and putting up your listings is one piece of the Etsy pie, but it isn’t the whole thing. You need to make sure that your listings look as professional as possible, and if you’re looking to take your business to next level, get serious about marketing.

Practice Taking Good Pictures- You should practice your photography. Try different settings and take pictures in different areas of your home, or outside. Work with different lighting. Find what looks best and creates the most professional looking options for your products.

Work On A Logo- You want to work on branding your business. Create a banner and a nice logo. If you can’t do this, you should consider hiring someone who can. Again, it’s all about the visual appeal and creating something that is unique to you and your products.

Use Social Media To Your Advantage- Social media is part of almost every marketing strategy from businesses around the globe, Your business is no different. You might have great products but with limited visibility, you’re only going to reach a limited audience.

Share your posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and any other social media platform that you’re a part of. Create sales for different holidays, or to celebrate a milestone. Share, share, share. Get your brand name out there.

Be Active, And Be Professional
The key to Etsy success is activity and professionalism. You need to create a brand, and constantly be active. Activity consists of updating products in your shop, and online marketing. Reaching out to your target audience is the only way you’re going to find success with your business.
